Should be possible to optimise the remote link to work with this... PM to follow shortly, Phil.

EDIT: Make that an email, not a PM, as I'm not sure how often Phil drops in on here. Anyway, email sent, Phil...

Just an update on the project, the Virtual T4 system has been in use for some months now and has handled everything thrown at it, in fact i can't remember the last time i actually used the T4 from start to finish as it has only been used if i have encountered a problem with failures and in all cases these were down to the car rather than the software.

Initially it was written just to handle the R40's (i still haven't tested it on a V8 yet) but now i am expanding it to include some of the other MGR variants as and when i come across them.
All types of T4 Services Available

Not sure, but I think they have managed to somehow reverse engineer the T4 without copy write issues?

Would have thought that you would need to legally have the software and normal t&cs for use normally specifically do not allow reverse engineering.

All beyond my understanding I'm afraid. Fortunately I have a very good MG garage local to me with a T4, who don't charge me the earth. Recently enabled the locking for nowt on the ZT, but will probably get it taken off as my wife doesn't like it operating. Hopefully for nowt?

Would be good if Phil popped in.

Thought some of the comments on the OC were interesting - along the lines that Phil should give his software away for free! Now, if he gives it away for free then no one now requires his T4 services so no income for him. Sensible and in some ways more beneficial to charge so he has an income and owners can have their own diagnosis and enabling software for their car,

Seems like Santa’s been extra busy with not one but news of two full diagnostic systems for our cars. The ultimate dream would in my opinion have been the remote T4 project but in its absence, we can at last look forward to something that matches the wallet of the average owner but unfortunately without the expertise of the qualified operator.

I watched the TOAF video yesterday (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntrIvnS ... e=youtu.be) and was very impressed, more so as I still have the old XP laptop and cable from the remote T4 project which hopefully means that I won’t have to buy anything new. And there are no restrictions on usage or VIN limitations.

As an overseas owner Phil’s system, while most tempting, presents it’s own practical problems: do I have to send a laptop to Phil for installation or can this be done through TeamViewer? And then I believe I need to source the software discs etc.

The ultimate Christmas present would have been the ability to connect to Phil and use his expertise through the internet, gladly paying for his services, perhaps something for next year's wish list.

Regards
