MG ZT-T REAR BUMPER TRIM REMOVAL

Post Number:#1  Post by Gfunk » May 21st, 2019, 12:51

Afternoon All,

i need a bit of direction please if you will.

On my ZT-T rear bumper i have the end cap on the wrap around colour coded trim which is cracked and needs replacing.

Am i right in saying that the only way to replace it the whole rear bumper has to be removed.
Cheers

Mark 1 or Mark 2 - they may be different?
For the Mark 1, the finisher is part number DXD000040 (Right) or DXD000050 (Left) and there is a separate clip that holds it on. I don’t know how it all fits together, though. It may be a one-time fixing.

MG ZT-T REAR BUMPER TRIM REMOVAL

Hi there,
Thanks for coming back to me.
Yes it is the right hand finisher on my MK1 ZT-T that i have ordered then gotta spray it before fitting.
Indeed as far as i can tell it has clips behind the bumper and can only presume it is a bumper off job.
Pitty all that work for such a small part.

MG ZT-T REAR BUMPER TRIM REMOVAL

I'm not familiar with how it works, but have you got new clips ready to fit?
The design of the clip may show whether it is fitted from the outside of the bumper, or from the inside.
At manufacture, the whole bumper assembly would have been delivered to the production line fully assembled by the supplier, so the clips could be fitted either way. But one of the targets is a quick repair time for minor damage. This may mean that the bumper does not have to come off. Worth finding out before you start (which is why you asked, of course ... ).

MG ZT-T REAR BUMPER TRIM REMOVAL

Post Number:#5  Post by Gfunk » May 22nd, 2019, 7:29

Hi,
i did ask if they had any clips but i think they not available anymore.
I've seen on this site a bumper removed from a blue ZT-T and it would appear the clips are metal and are located behind the bumper and i can't see anyway you can fit a new finisher.
Hopefully someone who has done the job might be able to update on that.
Thanks for your input.

I have bought some strong 3M double sided tape clear which if a clip is broken it should hold it down a treat.
