You will have a drain on both sides. Are you seeing the lower one or the upper? The drivers side one is't visible on a V6 unless you get underneath because its below the servo. But the two are in the same space (apart from VERY early cars) so unblocking the passenger one is enough.

Once I found my leak it was actually easy to fix as the are is easy to get at. The hard part was finding it.

Wet carpets, again

I jacked car up , and put it on axle stands, but due to slope of the driveway, axle stands weren't sitting correctly. Will have to move car to a more suitable location and try again. I poured a little water over the windscreen, and saw it only exit underneath from the driver's side. I wasn't able to see where it was exiting from. I am assuming that my car may be one that has the driver's plenum drained sealed off. Will confirm tomorrow.

Also, I saw two rubber hoses pointing down. These could be seen without car being jacked up. Are these drain hoses?

Correction , water only exited from the passenger's side, I am assuming the driver's side may be sealed off, according to info I have seen on various threads.

Be careful. There's more than one drain each side. The upper and lower. On some cars the upper drains can be blanked off on one side, but I've never come across any that have a lower one blanked off. More likely its blocked because its so hard to get at.

Someone has said you may have seen the AC drains. What did the end of the pipes look like? The AC ones are round with a little flap, where as the ends of the plenum drains are flattened at the end and round at the top. The AC ones are further back and closer together than the plenum drains.

Wet carpets, again

Hi Brian.
All the R40 have four drain tubes two in the plenum area, passenger side under the ECU, drivers side under the brake servo, and one in each inner wing, after PPD the drivers side was made obsolete by using a rubber bung instead of a tube.

Also do you have a sunroof if so it is a good chance the sunroof drain tubes are blocked and then the water will back up and sometimes push out the tube the water then gets under the carpet not just when it rains but also when the car is washed.

ArcticZion

I don't have a sunroof. I have bought myself Captain Tolley's crack cure to apply to rear windscreen. I have wet the car thoroughly with a garden hose, and haven't found any leaks. Will put interior back soon and keep my fingers crossed.

I had the odd situation when I was looking for my leak that removing the windscreen trim stopped the leak. When the water ran down the screen the trim pushed it so that it ran over the place where the crack was. With the trim removed it didn't run there!

I would so the same to the clips that hold the front windscreen in too, under the scuttle.

I applied Captain Tolley's to rear glass bottom clips, and have found no leaks.
I found a small amount of water on the passenger side, section of the floor directly below dashboard. There was a light rainfall yesterday, so it has revealed this leak. I have been told to apply Captain Tolley's to front windscreen bottle clips.

I applied Captain Tolley's to windscreen clips and white plastics that help to secure plenum drain cover

Just reading this post. I also had leaks in my v6 when I got it although most of mine related to sunroof drain tubes.....I got that one all sorted.
I had a blank plug on the driver's side plenum where the drain tube used to be. I bought a drain tube from Rimmers and put it in there which stops a lot of the water running down to the one under the servo.

I also did the spy hole mod where the Ecu resides in the plenum. I use the dipstick to regularly rod this through, and since I've done al these mods I don't get any more water in the car.

I've also changed both rear lamp cluster gaskets as well.

I am happy to report that after today's torrential downpour, no leaks were found in the car. Thanks to everyone for taking the time to offer advice
