I am in the process of bringing my ZT back to life. Its a 2003 190 + . It was SORN for almost 3 years. Its my first MG. So I will need a lot of advice to sort it out. I know my way around my tools, and I am armed with my Haynes manual.
So far, I have sorted out the rear light seals, I put silicone sealant on the inside of boot around the vents, which has stopped another leak. I will remover the rear bumper, and seal around the vents again.
Thanks to Steve ( Arctic) who promptly provided a modified handbrake compenstaor, which will be fitted soon.
The interior carpet has been lifted and put out to dry. There was water underneath the passenger side of the car.
The plenum has been checked, and its clear. I will do the mod at some point.
I intend to start on the rear subframe once i put the interior bag together. I have received a few quotes for rear subframes, about £60. I am hoping to strip, and rebuild the whole suspension and subframe then do a swap out.

The boot is stripped, and powder has been sprinkled in it to trace any water leaks

Have a quick look at the new owner's checklist, on the Wiki, if you haven't already found it, and treat the Haynes Manual with a pinch of salt.

The carpet was put back in , but had to dismantle the interior due to the carpet becoming wet again. I think I have finally sorted the leaks out, and will put the interior back.

I have sorted out leaks in the cabin. The interior is being re-assembled. I have cut slots in the carpet underneath the seats, will use them in the future to check if below the carpet is wet.
Also, the rear seat back catches have a lot of rust around them. So I have partially removed the outer cover to expose the rust. Will use a wire brush to get rid of rust, and apply anti-rust compound.

Hi Brian hope you are well, I have seen lots of those seat back units rusted which is surprising given that they stay inside the car and are also covered, keep up the good work matey

I too was surprised that the seat-mounts rusted like the do.

What agent did you use to stop/prevent the rust out of interest?

I haven't gotten around to sort it out yet. What I will do is use a wire brush to get rid of as much rust as possible. At work came across a can of anti rust spray that galvanises top layer of metal. A friend suggested I use a compound called Rust Cure. I need to make a trip to Halfords. Will post pics of completed job.

My carpet doesn't look good. The colour looks tired and faded. I bought cans of fabric spray dye to remedy this. They haven't turned up as yet. I also purchased a used subframe. Got it really cheap. Will take it to work and clean it up, and hopefully start assembling complete front suspension in the near future.
I am kind of multi tasking.
