If you're struggling with the carpet, it may be worthwhile sourcing an earlier carpet from one of the plethora of breakers around. The earlier ones actually have a pile to them and hence can be actually cleaned, unlike the later wirey/horsehair type stuff! :)

I see what you are saying about getting another carpet. Unfortunately the budget for this venture is tight, and not in the mood to take this carpet out the third time. So will just have to continue with my diy

Its been a while. The car has been on hold due to work. I had put all the carpet and fittings back together, started the engine, and the airbag ligts won't extinguish. I have tried unplugging and plugging them back in, and that hasn't worked. In order to narrow down which connector is causing the provlem, I have resorted to cutting the connectors off, and using connector blocks to join the wires. If that doesn't work then I will have to change the impact sensors mounted under the carpets.

My rear seat catches have a lot of rust around it, so I have unzipped the cover, and used a acraper and wire brush to remove as much rust as posiible. I applied cold galvanising spray to it. Does anyone know what I can use to do up the zippers?

Also, the wooden cover for the spare wheel was warped. I had two metal rods laying around, and I've used them to reinforce and straighten it. It looks crude, but it will be facing downwards, so won't be visible.

The air bag pight may also be due to an actual air bag being u/s - had this on my car and needed to replace the air bag in the passenger seat back.

How did you ascertain it was the airbag that was faulty?

You can buy a set of different sized zippers on ebay...which is what I did...and you should find one that fits. Only a couple of £.

We were about to go away and it needed an MOT - the light came on a couple of days before the MOT. Jiggled about under the seats to no avail. So bought a pair of seats from a breakers, fitted the passenger seat first and the light went off. It remained there for three years until I removed the air bag from it and fittrf in the original passenger seat that had hardly been sat in. So I was lucky - if you can find someone who would let you substitute their seats for yours to see if one of them cures the problem. You will then know if it is one of the seats.

Work on my ZT has come to a halt for now , due to winter and changing jobs.
I plan on starting again in the new year.

What I need is the bolts that bolt secure the front seats to the floor. The head on the ones I have are looking pretty rough. Rimmers have them out of stock. I googled but have got no results. Is there an alternative that I can use?

I looked at them , and thought they weren't standard bolts, because the threads look tapered. The diameter is probably 6mm.

I have used some of these for other things and they were straight not tapered.
