The seats came from a lovely car, it was sold for £510 with minimal damage. It was in a salvage yard in Southampton.

I think this is the loom from that tourer. It was highline and had a HK system I think so would be a direct swap if easier. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rover-75-Mgzt ... 5698643%26

I am sure a £25 or £30 bid he will accept.

OK so time for an udpate,

Physical work on the car took place on the back-burner over the last few weeks, but work was able to start again when I got back to Lincoln.

I was able to source a rear door in colour in Birmingham. We were later informed that it would be a bare door, and they really did mean bare! Upon returning back with the door, the task was to then remove the ball complete with foot-shaped hole and rebuild and refit the replacement door.

Image

We also did a bit of a wheel swap-around fitting some recently sourced Apexs

Image

Once that was sorted, the under-seat soundproofing was removed and dried, with the remaining quarry and forest removed

Image

Image

The subwoofer was removed and is now being cleaned due to water ingress from the rear lights:

Image

Work then moved onto fitting a rear-bumper crash can to replace the tow-bar that the car came with. Coincidentally the LR dealer in Swansea had a new one in their old stock.

Image

I was also able to bung and seal the two drill-holes that had been made for the tow-bar

The clutch plates and master cylinder have been sourced, just the slave to source.

The car will without saying have the belts, stat and water pump done, along with fabrication of new lower coolant pipes. The car is sadly fitted with a dead three-speed fan, so will cross that challenge when we get the car stripped in a few weeks!

Well with the M5 gone and a near clear garage, we pushed the car into the bay, hopefully where it will stay until it's complete!

After a prolonged stink, we decided to strip the interior and pressure wash and ultra clean the carpet. It also will make the leak finding task easier later on!

Image

We started early today and after not a great deal of time, the front was fairly well stripped:

Image

First thing we noticed:

Image

We then looked at the fan, which I'd got in my mind to be a three-speed, only to re-joyce when I saw this:

Image

However this was quite an eye opener! KV6 OWNERS (2001 ONWARDS) CHECK YOURS NOW!

Image

And then noticed this was bodge:

Image

We then found that the front belt was a Gates part, which did suggest the 'work' that had been carried out was genuinely done. However we then found this:

Image

Which to me suggests that the garage only changed the main belt, and not the rear two. It is to an extent academic as the whole lot will be changed anyway, however, it does make you wonder how many people only change the front belt, despite charging otherwise!

Once the cambelt on the polo is finished and the rear quarter repaired on the rescue Rover, we hope to get the engine and box out tomorrow evening!

That front section of pipe behind the radiator is exactly the same issue that my ZT had, which led to the garage that the previous owner took it to, concluding that it had head gasket failure! I couldn't believe it. When I had a look at some other V6s on the racks, there was only one with acceptable pipes! I think it would be worthwhile, looking into getting them remanufactured in the future!
Looks like such a nice project!
