Ooh now that is nice! Interestingly on sparkle silver Apex wheels too, which is what ours had hiding in the boot!

What spec is she inside Tony?

P.s. Has anyone seen Tony today, in case he did have to call the AA!

Apologies for the delay of update on this, picture heavy thread incoming.
Further inspection of the engine prior to removal presented another example of ham-fistedness in the past:

Image
Image

And a rather dead exhaust bracket:

Image
Image

The coolant, PAS and air-con refridgerant removed – the engine and box removed

Image

Upon removing the gearbox, safe to say the ORIGINAL slave was dead:

Image

The car was then pushed outside and the engine bay and underside given a good clean, it need it

Just after this, our order of genuine parts came through, the total cost of what was in the photo costing more than the car! :-O

The engine strip then followed:

And stuff literaly fell to bits

Dropbox appears to have lost some photos, so will take some more tomorrow. However, currently the engine and gearbox have been reassembled with new belts, tensioner, pulley, new aux pulleys, clutch, slave, clutch guide and new DMF.

The interior is currently stripped down to just the dashboard and door-cards whist a persistent water-leak is found and plugged and a carpet is sourced (hopefully collecting on Monday!

We have however decided to move from full leather to heated green axis seats, with electric adjustment (in the photo they look grey!) that are in immaculate condition

Brilliant work there.

Are you going to clean out the cam covers too, whilst everything is apart?

Thanks all for the comments, apologies for the lack of update. I know we're going to make sure that the engine is good before we spend any time cleaning it. At some point I'll post up all the parts it's had new as I've lost count off the top of my head.

The interior is about finished, I sadly lost a load of photos, but here's one to hand whilst working inside:

Further investigation underneath though proved somewhat enlightening:

So rub downs and liberal a dosing of underseal will be on the cards, but the brake lines have been replaced. The car was jacked up and the underside given a good clean

Oh and this was one of the heat shields after it had been straitened out (now replaced with a good one)

Wow, a car that looks worse underneath than mine!

Lovely work with the brake pipes.

At some point in the future my front ones will need doing, I have done a little bit of pipe flaring about 10 years ago but ws thinking of getting a garage to do it... how was bleeding the brakes? Easy? Difficult? I have read in the past that they should be done on T4 but not sure if that advice still stands.

An amazing restoration Jake. Scary to see what may be lurking underneath on our cars. I make a point of trying not to park on wet grass for any length of time, It does seem to make a difference )

Thanks for the pictures. When I read these types of thread and the people who catalogue the work - I'm very impressed.
