Thanks all for the comments. The car spent a year as an MGR car before heading to SMC Slough, where it lived for 2 years. It then lived for 6 years in Camarthenshire, so could very well have been near the sea. Sadly haven't been as thorough as I'd like to have been with the cataloguing, but here are a few more photos.

The subframe was removed and refurbed with new arms, powerflex bushes on the rear arms and ARB.





Cruise control pump retrofitted.



We then investigated a wheel bearing that had it's cap missing. The rear bearings appear not to be sealed, so a missing cap has quite an impact as can be seen.



So the bearing was removed and the rear hub, cleaned down and new handbrake shoes fitted







The front assemblies have been reassembled, with new drop-links, strut top bearings and the callipers refurbed.




The wheels have been refurbished (many thanks to Martin Whyley for sorting these!)



And new rubbers are ready to be fitted.

Enjoy it when its finished, its looking like an epic build. Just don't flog it on for someone else to enjoy. I did this with a MK2 16v Golf and I still hate myself for it but not as much as my lad does. I think he was hoping that when he was old enough to drive that he would be able to have a blast in it. Its definitely the last time I ever listen to my Mrs about a car. She drives a new Peugeot, so I should have known better LOL.

Was at Jake's this morning...up close the attention to detail and quality of workmanship that has gone into this is amazing...it was literally a builder's skip when they got it home...now it is looking like one very tasty bit of kit!

Well we nearly made it, but as those who were at Silverstone this weekend, it was a case of 'Close kid, but no cigar!'

All was on track having collected the bodywork from the paint shop, who've done an incredible job:







And the stainless system was fitted in preparation for the bumpers to be fitted



However, it was after having under sealed and fitted a side skirt, we then went to pick up the other one, when it became apparent that the side skirts had been packaged wrong and we'd sent two of the same side to the paint shop!

Rimmers kindly furnished us with two of the opposite side skirts FOC, which are now in the shop being painted.

The car is now very close to completion, more pics to come this week.

Hopefully we'll be keeping the car Colin, after all the work we've done, I think it would be difficult to make our money back on it. We hope that Mark's meeting will be its first outing.

This is going to be one brilliant car when it is finished! Errmm those spare side skirts....wouldn't happen to fit a Pearl black (V8) saloon would they?
