Clutch hydraulics

Post Number:#1  Post by Zeb » October 6th, 2013, 12:30

The current system for the clutch hydraulics is pretty grim in the long term. A plastic master cylinder that wears and leaks and a largely plastic slave which also wears / disintegrates...When the master wears the guk it produces then finds its way down to the slave and increases wear too. If you are lucky the master, the slave and the clutch all wear out together at circa 80-100k miles...some don't last half this distance.

Since conversion to a mechanical system looks like being a rather ambitious solution, the answer is perhaps to have far higher quality precision-machined from aluminium billet replacement parts which are in themselves re-buildable. This would allow the long term owner much greater peace of mind and also the option to buy a re-build kit to keep in stock should it ever become a problem again. All of this would also need to ideally be at a lesser cost than the current offerings from Delphi or LUK. Of course, having a flexible, braided metal hose connector might also be a bonus for the fitting of these too....this will also be part of the package.

The Tazu part is an improvement but appears to be 'handed' for left-hand drive vehicles* and consequently poses a few fitting difficulties currently. It is also only half the answer in any case.

We think we may have the answer to this.....so watch this space! :fingers:

Have looked on their website, and they list a LHD and a RHD version now.

Tazu are developing an aluminium slave. Can we link up with them in some way, like the OC have?

Possibly...but at the moment we think that an aluminium slave that has been tried and tested has already been developed elsewhere.

Feel free to drop them an invite Colin, we have just fitted one of their parts to one of our projects after all! :-)

Clutch hydraulics

Post Number:#8  Post by Isle of Wight » July 9th, 2014, 11:26

Just had the Tazu master slave fitted right hand drive version, it cost £75.
Unfortunately it hasnt solved my problem and am finding it difficult to change gears. I've had the gearbox, clutch, slave and finally master replaced but it's still the same.
I'm new on here and cant find where I can make a post.

Hi Jason and welcome!

For the issue in question, this seems as good a place as any to post. For other Tazu references, do a search or click here

If you want to introduce yourself, then this is the forum you want!
